Opening Statement: Ellie Zimmer President-Elect opened the meeting and explained Bekki Bock has stepped down as President. She is unable to fulfill her obligations at this time.
As per the By-laws, Ellie assumes the responsibilities of the office of President and remains President-Elect until the next meeting. Lynn Sabo as immediate Past President will be called upon to assist.
Secretary’s Report: Joyce Zimmerman
Copies of the minutes were distributed to everyone for review. Motion to accept by J. Bingales, seconded by T. Rubel, and passed by section council.
Treasurer’s Report: Janet Bingales
Financial Reports distributed
Discussion regarding meeting fees for students
Investigate a small discount. Send notices to other area schools regarding meeting and presentations. Prefer to keep within the chapter, but wont turn away. Mentor of our own students.
National Council Delegates Report: Ted Rubel
Topics for National Meeting – contact Ted.
National Council has developed into reporters. A resolution will be brought to NCR elected body to vote regarding change in NCD responsibilities. With new technology, delays in communication are reduced; therefore quicker decisions can be reached. Ted suggested a task force to investigate National Council Reps and Executive Board and responses to update duties of NCD.
Ted to report on GNYCSNM-TS changes and successful Atlantic City Meetings.
Care Bill in DC – passed in House of Representatives. New Bill has “teeth” Federal Government to restrict or not pay Medicare charges without certified technologist and center.
Ted received invitation from ASRT President regarding Philadelphia Multi-Disciplinary meeting in 2009. Suggested booth and Nuclear Medicine track. Discussion concerning date of meeting to avoid pulling attendance at our sponsored meetings – Atlantic City, local grassroots.
** E. Zimmer and T. Rubel to investigate and report back.
Membership Committee report – Ellie Zimmer
See attached report
As of May 13, 2008 – GNYCSNM-TS is third in membership with 1,462 members behind the Central Chapter (1827) and Southeastern Chapter (1726). Compared to January we are down 19.8%.
Ellie has completed the second mailing to new members – sends quarterly. Non-renewals will receive a survey – Ellie is working on one. She will provide to area councilors to find out why not renewing. The responses will be filtered to graph areas. Discussion regarding sending survey with self-addressed envelopes, increasing rate of return.
Suggestion to review finances regarding membership fees. Request split of fees – Basic and full to include journal. To date, Ellie reports the SNM is reluctant to do – need support of journal.
GNYCSNM and GNYCSNM-TS – discussion regarding fees. Physicians raised membership fees $12 for physicians, $7 for technologists – the physicians have the money in the bank and have not shared with the tech section. Ellie to request review of expenses – this is on the agenda for Board of Governors, GNYCSNM in New Orleans meeting-see motion below.
Motion: Present to Board of Governors a discussion to consider a minimum allotment of a 50/50 split of the current membership dues. Motion was made by A.M. Alessi and seconded by Sue Dahl. The motion was approved by the committee.
