GNYCSNM-TS Section Council Meeting

Becki called the meeting to Order at 9:10 am

Opening Statement: Bekki Bock, President, opened the meeting by thanking Ellie Zimmer for handling the Chapter business during her absence.

Secretary’s Report: Joyce Zimmerman
Copies of the minutes were distributed to everyone for review. Motion to accept following the addition of Carrie Niler to the attendance list was made by E. Zimmer and seconded by M. Panichi-Egberts.  All accepted the minutes.
       
Treasurer’s Report:  Janet Bingales
Janet provided a detailed copy of the report to the committee.
Discussion regarding switch and update to Wachovia for banking. Signature cards signed for money market.
Audit Committee formed – J. Bingales, T. Rubel, and W. Stanley.  
M. Stromer suggested Quick Books.
Motion to accept the report by M. Merry and seconded by T. Rubel.
 
National Council Delegates Report: Ted Rubel
Midwinter meeting – Long Beach, CA. Discussion scheduled on CT licensure and CARE Bill.

Master’s program. Advanced Practitioner. Martha Pickett is contact. Online application, set up clinical at local site with physician mentor.

Membership Committee report – Ellie Zimmer
GNYCSNM – third as of January 2008 with 1,823 CNMT; a reduction of 16% from October 2007. The decrease is comparable to other chapters.
Ellie received from the SNM a list of members.

  • She has sent a letter to new members about the Chapter to encourage participation.
  • Ellie will receive notice quarterly of those current members that are not renewing.
  • Non-renewing members will get letters requesting reason.

A discussion was held regarding membership categories within GNYCSNM-TS
  • Handful of lifetime members – no benefit – review and bring proposal to Board
  • Fellow status – application/approval/pin/initials. What is the benefit?
  • Membership fees
    • Currently pro-rated for less than 4 months plus following year.

GNYCSNM-TS should educate members/attendees during symposiums and grassroots meetings.
The SNM website is difficult to access chapter websites. It was noted that the GNYCSNM website is not current – the fall brochure is from 2005. Mitch to correct this immediately.

K. Price – vendor update.
26-27 booths decreased from 36 in previous years.
Vendors requesting CD version of prospectus as well as hard copy.
Sent 30 packets – returned to date: 5 singles and 2 doubles reservations

E. Zimmer –

  • Tropicana has new management – NJ gaming commission is managing the casino temporarily.
  • Reserved at both Tropicana and Trump properties for meeting in 2009-2010. Lynn Sabo is site selection chair.
  • Program has been sent. 5800 brochures sent from Mississippi to Eastern Seaboard.
  • CV’s are in for VOICE credits.  3 month minimum submission date.
  • Myrellen to manage Voice sheets/recording

GNYCSNM  Report: Mitch Stromer

  • Fall Symposium 2008: October 24-26 Newport, RI
  • Fall Symposium 2009 – Ryetown, NY Hilton
  • Fall Symposium 2010 – Lowe’s Philadelphia, PA ($200/night rooms)
  • Membership invoices – one payment to physician section/one payment to technologist section
    • Pays the liability for all officers
    • Fall Meeting charges
    • Administrative charges
  • Following Board of Governor’s meeting in Washington, DC, the physician section is acutely aware of the need to assist and recognize the technologist section
  • Voice credits will be applied for all lectures at Fall Meetings
  • Discussion held to provide $1,000 toward cost of Fall Meeting from Technologist section.
  • Physicians looking for meetings to lecture. Speaker list to be provided if requested – contact M. Stromer or Dr. Love.

New Business
B. Bock opened discussion on donation to Howard Kay Memorial Fund. This fund is controlled by the Education and Research Group.
E. Zimmer made motion to donate $1,000 to Howard Kay Memorial Fund as well as donate $1,000 toward Fall Symposium expenses. Seconded by Carrie – motion approved.

M. Panichi-Egberts is requesting assistance with “Are you Smarter than a Nuclear Medicine Student”? Looking for folks with dynamic personalities.

National Meeting will be in New Orleans. June 2008. – Board of Governors will be held on Sunday at National Meeting.

Adjournment:  J. Bingales motioned to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by S. Dahl. The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am. The next meeting will be held in May 2008 – Date to be announced.
