GNYCSNM - third as of 8/29/07 with 2,206 members.
Ellie received from the SNM a list of members.
She will be sent a letter to new members about the Chapter
to encourage participation.
Ellie will receive notice quarterly of those current members
that are not renewing.
Schools will receive an introductory letter with scholarship
information as well as chapter updates. The SNM gave out 30
scholarships in 2007.
Cecelia Noblest - Director of Membership for the SNM will
attend the Spring 2008 meeting.
A discussion was held regarding grassroots organizations. The
SNM does not financially support them. Now realize that the
grassroots are meeting needs of regional areas. At the New
England / New York Chapter meeting in Stamford - information
will be available on membership to generate interest.
The SNM website is difficult to access chapter websites. It was
noted that the GNYCSNM website is not current - the fall
brochure is from 2005. Mitch to correct this immediately.
Members to go to training programs and speak to students
regarding benefits of chapter and SNM membership.
Michele and Ellie - Gloucester County; Maggie - Molloy;

There will be a membership table at the meeting. If the members
wish to join the SNM, and complete the application and pay the
fee at the meeting, we will allow a $100 deduction to the
registration fee.
Ted discussed a bar code system that he is working on. Wish to
try at small meeting - it was agreed to try it at the Garden
State meeting.
Ellie discussed that at the Board of Governors meeting, she
expressed our concern regarding the location and lack of
assistance / cooperation with our New England counterparts.
Susan Dahl explained to Mitch the history of our frustrations
with the New England Chapter. Poor to no communication. Mary
Cross has been great - works well with GNYCSNM. Martha Wilson
is President-Elect - will wait and see if she follows in
Mary's footsteps.
Mitch explained that due to Pharma laws it is difficult to
receive financial support from vendors. Holding a meeting in
Philadelphia is expensive - needs three large areas - 6,000
sq ft / 3,000 sq ft & 3,000 sq ft to hold vendor exhibits,
physician track and technologist track. Sent our bids to over
60 sites, few responded - not a profitable venture for the
hotels. Suggestions for sites in greater Philadelphia given
to Mitch.
Mitch has a list of speakers that are interested in providing
lectures at meetings. He is to share with Sue and Maggie. Dr.
Love to send out an email to the membership for speakers for
the technologists.
Spring Symposium Report 2008 - Ellie Zimmer - Program Coordinator; Nancy Price - Exhibit Coordinator; Janet Bingales - Registration, Michele Egberts Education Program Coordinator
Ellis is to contact Dan Zebrowski regarding contract with Holmes
Briscoe. If no contract is current, we can save money with
Tropicana and not have to pay commission fee. They have not
assisted in anyway with Tropicana reservations or meeting
preparation.
Ted will look into online requests.
Suggestion to increase non-member fees.
Student Papers - MUST bring their own computer.
Pictures to be taken of winning students - not during lunch
meeting.
Luncheon - allow 1.5 hours and provide raffle tickets. If on
site when winning number drawn - they win.
Michele Egberts has agreed to be Education Coordinator after
resignation by Myrellen and Ann Marie. She has a few speakers
lined up and is looking for others. Please contact Michele
with ideas. Split schedules will continue.
Old Business
None.
New Business
Maggie suggested that we purchase a LVD projector for the
GNYCSNM-TS. Ellie stated it currently costs $800/mtg to rent
one. Maggie motioned to purchase the LCD projector, Steve
Wozniak seconded the motion - the motion was passed.
Ted brought up the idea of a traveling road show - similar
to the one we held a few years ago. Utilize the local talent.
Ted will develop a plan to present at the next meeting.
Ellie has been nominated, and accepted, to attend the SNM
leadership Academy in Berkeley, CA, all expenses paid by SNM.
Goal to build leadership within SNM. Each Chapter will be
recommending one attendee going forward annually.
National Meeting will be in New Orleans. June 2008. Board of
Governors will be held on Sunday at National Meeting.
Mid-Winter Meeting February - Long Beach, CA.
Adjournment

held in January 2008 - Date to be announced.
